Quantum control of a cat qubit with bit-flip times exceeding ten seconds. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38710932/)

These scientists wanted to find a way to make quantum bits (qubits) more stable and less prone to errors. They discovered that by using a special type of qubit called a cat qubit, which is encoded in a special way in a quantum system, they could protect it from certain errors. In their experiment, they created a cat qubit that could stay stable for a very long time, much longer than in previous experiments. They were able to control the quantum states of the qubit without causing errors, showing that this method could work well for future quantum technologies.
