A microbial-derived succinylated bile acid to safeguard liver health. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38788691/)
These scientists found that a special type of bile acid made by tiny organisms called microbes can help protect the liver from getting sick. This bile acid is called 3-succinylated cholic acid. It doesn't work the way other bile acids usually do. Instead, it helps a helpful microbe called Akkermansia muciniphila to grow and multiply. This microbe is good for our bodies and can keep our liver healthy. The scientists discovered that this special bile acid and the microbe work together to prevent liver diseases caused by problems with how our bodies process food.
