First-in-class MKK4 inhibitors enhance liver regeneration and prevent liver failure. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38490194/)
These scientists wanted to find a way to help people who have liver diseases or need to have part of their liver removed. They created a new type of medicine called MKK4i that can help the liver grow back faster after surgery. They tested this medicine on mice and pigs and found that it helped their livers to heal and work better. They also did a trial with people and found that the medicine was safe and worked well in their bodies. Now they want to do more tests to see if this medicine can help people who have liver problems in the future.
