These scientists wanted to find a way to make products like fuel and chemicals without using fossil fuels, which are harmful to the environment. They suggested using renewable energy sources like solar or wind to create these products in a more eco-friendly way. They believe that with enough time and support, we can create a refinery that doesn't rely on fossil fuels at all, and instead uses carbon dioxide and waste materials to make the things we need. This new kind of refinery would be much better for the planet and would require a lot of space and resources to make it work.
