A secondary atmosphere on the rocky Exoplanet 55 Cancri e. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38718834/)
These scientists were studying a planet called 55 Cnc e, which is similar in size to Earth but much hotter. They used special instruments on a telescope called JWST to look at the planet and figure out what its atmosphere is made of. They found that the planet doesn't have a thin atmosphere like they thought it might, but instead has a real atmosphere made of gases like carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide. They think these gases are coming from a hot liquid rock ocean on the planet's surface.
