Electrically driven proton transfer promotes Bronsted acid catalysis by orders of magnitude. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38359117/)
These scientists wanted to see if they could make chemical reactions happen faster by using electricity. They found that by applying a small amount of electricity to certain materials, they were able to make the reactions happen much faster. They tested this on different reactions, like turning one type of molecule into another type of molecule. They discovered that by using electricity, they could make the reactions happen 100,000 times faster! This is really exciting because it could help us make new things more quickly and efficiently.
