Sex differences in tissue immunity. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38574173/)
These scientists wanted to understand how male mice and female mice respond differently to skin injuries. They found that male mice have a special type of signal called androgen that makes their skin heal with less redness and swelling. To study this, the scientists gave some male mice a medicine to block this signal and then compared how their skin healed to normal male mice. They found that the male mice without the androgen signal had more redness and swelling in their skin after an injury. This study helps us learn more about how male and female bodies respond differently to skin injuries.
