Control of cell proliferation by memories of mitosis. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38547292/)

These scientists studied how cells divide and found that when cells take longer to divide, they can form special protein complexes that help protect the cells. These protein complexes are passed on to the new cells that are created during cell division. The scientists discovered that these protein complexes can trigger a response in the new cells to stop them from growing too quickly.

They also found that some types of cancer cells lose the ability to form these protein complexes, which can make them grow out of control. However, other cancer cells that still have this ability are sensitive to certain drugs that can stop them from dividing. This study helps us understand how cells divide and how we can target certain cancer cells to stop them from growing.
